7 Months into Parenthood: A Journey of Challenges and Joys

Sunday, February 9, 2025

Time flies as our baby hits the 7-month mark. Life post-baby is a complete 180 from what we were used to. While our little joy bundle brings unmatched happiness, stress comes hand in hand with it.

Reflecting on the past months, the first three were undoubtedly the toughest. By the next quarter, we started to get the hang of things. But now, with our baby exploring on all fours, the list of things to be mindful of is increasing. And as we look ahead, it feels like the parenting difficulty level is only climbing.

Our home has morphed into a haven for baby-centric items. The once carefully curated decor from our newlywed phase found its way to storage, while furniture arrangements were altered with the baby's safety in mind. Creating a safe zone for our baby gradually took over the entire house.

Casual weekend strolls and outings are distant memories. A stroller has become an essential, and dining choices are confined to only those kid-friendly places.

Post-marriage, my gaming time took a hit, but after the baby, it's all but ceased. Some may wonder, "Why not enjoy some me-time while the baby naps?" However, those naps are golden intervals for tackling an endless list of tasks.

From household chores, an invigorating workout, to sharpening my skills for the family's future, or indulging in a good book – these moments are invaluable. Blogging fits perfectly into this precious time slot.

Though life now comes with many constraints and physical exhaustion, like many rookie dads, in the end, the narrative circles back to 'happiness.' Seeing my baby's smile miraculously washes away the fatigue and difficulties. It's an indescribable happiness, unlike anything else.

While such emotions are challenging to convey to the uninitiated, it's something only experienced firsthand. Outwardly, it might seem like embracing limitations, but in reality, we're embracing a richer, fuller life.

Perhaps it's a divine gift - the chance to experience every moment life offers. To me, my child is the key to filling in the blank spaces of my childhood memories, ones my parents hold dear."}
